Second Graders Using an App to Share Learning
While visiting Ironia Elementary School today Mrs. Friedland asked if I could stop by her classroom. Of course I always a appreciate an invitation to hangout with students! When I arrived I was greeted by a welcome mat that made me feel special and a class full of students enthusiastically working on many different things. The students were excited to share an application (app) called Seesaw that Mrs. Friedland (@MrsFriedland2nd) and Miss Florio (@speducator15) setup for the students to use. I had three girls share a video they created to demonstrate a partner reading strategy. I had another girl show me how she creates and posts a video in just seconds. One male student shared an activity he captured by photo to submit for his teachers to review, including a comment about something he was able to self correct. Seesaw empowers students to independently capture their learning and provides the opportunity for students to create and evaluate. The apps allows students to comment on their work and the work of their peers. I am so fortunate for the enthusiastic second graders who shared part of their learning with me today and I am even more excited to see what they create!
